Bird Wattmeters and Line Sections
Wattmeters and Line Sections

Portable Wattmeters (12)

Bird® offers a wide selection of portable and panel-mount insertion-type instruments for measuring forward and reflected power in coaxial transmission lines. Thruline® instruments can be left in the line for continuous monitoring of either the transmitter power output or the amount reflected by the antenna. These two quantities are actually the most important transmission parameters: Tuning for the minimum reflected power results in a good match of the load (antenna) to the line, and adjusting the transmitter for maximum forward power into a matched antenna approaches ideal design goals, These optimum system adjustments result in a low Voltage Standing Wave Ratio.

Panel Mount Wattmeters (10)

Bird manufactures several panel-mount wattmeters to suit you RF needs. The 4520 Thruline® Series is designed for power measurement in CW and FM systems that employ 50-Ohm cable or 7/8" EIA transmission lines. The 3120A Series Bird Wattcher® Single Carrier RF Monitoring Systems are designed for the protection and monitoring of radio frequency transmission systems. The 3170A High-Speed Wattcher® RF Monitoring Series can automatically activate a variety of safety and equipment protection measures when it detects an abnormal antenna system load condition.

Meter Movement

The RPK 43-4 and 4210A100 Meters, when combined with appropriate 7/8" line section, QC connectors and elements, enable you to assemble custom rack mount or benchtop wattmeters. The RPK 43-4 is the same 3-1/2" diameter unit used in the Bird model 43 wattmeter. The 4210A100 is 3-1/4" square meter premounted in an aluminum case.

Rigid Line Sections (16)

Bird's precise 50 Ohm 7/8", 1-5/8", 3-1/8", 4-1/16" and 6-1/8" Coaxial Line Sections are designed for insertion between a transmitter and antenna or load. Each line section is equipped with one or two sockets where Plug-In Element(s), in the desired power and frequency range, are inserted. Double-socket line sections are for simultaneous measurement of forward and reflected power.
